
Moral of the story, if dismounting your horses near water (especially on very small islands), be aware that they might end up in the drink. In any case, I reloaded my save and typed the console commands to bring the horses to me, and now all is good. I presume the other one was nearby in a similar state. Then I loaded up my current save and typed the console command to move my character to where one of the horses was: turns out he was chillin’ (literally) underwater near the shipwreck close to Solitude, apparently unfazed by his lack of gills. I first loaded up a save game with the horses present and clicked on them with the console loaded up to get their refIDs. Ended up recovering the horses using console commands as detailed on the UESP wiki.

I was not pleased, as the gear is expensive. I looked around and did see one of them (turned out to be mine) swimming in place a distance away. Once we came back out, the follower was still waiting, but the horses were all gone.

I told one follower to wait and the other one and I went into the hold of the ship. Well, I was up in the frozen north at the site of a shipwreck with two followers and all our horses, and we all dismounted. Technically you don’t buy the horses just the gear.

Anyway, in more mod-related news re: UFO and follower horses specifically:īy way of background, basically the mod lets you buy certain equipment that you can put in the inventory of horses that the mod creator left standing around at convenient locations, that will make said horses follow your own horse and will keep them from heading back home when your follower dismounts them.
